An Actual Conversation

That occured between me and the fiance last night:
  • Me - you've seen Sixteen Candles right? It was a fixture movie in my childhood. Jake Ryan and all
  • Fiance - you mean the one where Molly Ringwald goes to the prom and then smokes pot in detention? Then Lloyd Dobbler asks out the foreign exchange student? Those movies were great. Those ones directed by Nick Hornsby.
  • Me - oy.

Looks like I owe you $1- as it turns out, High Fidelity was directed by Stephen Frears.

New thread: Get Savage Steve Holland and Mr. Frears together. Lock them in a hotel room with orders to craft a script that is simulataneously a sequel to both High Fidelity and Better Off Dead, starring John Cusack as himself, ala Being John Malkovich (which will be appear in the script, but cast with Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet as the leads). The entire film will be shot in one continuous take. If this does not tear a hole in the very fabric of reality, then it will surely blow several million minds and make for a film triumph that renders all other films obsolete. Send Jack Black into the room periodically to measure progress and also to administer awesomeness. Keep Robert Altman the hell away and bring me a gin and tonic, there is writing to be done.
